Up until recently, wireless technology was a patchwork of incompatible systems from a variety of vendors. The technology was slow, expensive and reserved for mobile situations or hostile environments where cabling was impractical or impossible. With the maturing of industry standards and the deployment of lightweight wireless networking hardware across a broad market section, wireless technology has come of age.

We are presenting this KnowledgeShare in a Q&A (Questions and Answers) format that we hope will be useful. These rugs used to be extremely expensive, but are at this point being found more affordable due to the process, they are able to be made with now.

Choosing a wool braided area rug is smart due to their durability. Most of the time, a wool rug is thought of in a country style kitchen under that farm house table. Now, more homes with other themes are placing them everywhere. With the growing popularity of outdoor carpeting, this is to include patios and balconies as well.

Best Places to Use One

A wool braided rug can be used anywhere you would like. Kitchens, dining areas, living areas, and external areas are popular choices. Outdoor versions should be purchased to ensure the durability in outside settings.

Wool braided area rugs can be found in so many color variations that a formal living area can benefit from one as well. My main goal here at Cryptobrewology is to introduce people to the wonderful world of craft beers and home brewing, so I'd be remiss if I didn't explore the possibilities even for those who just want to give home brewing a try, and don't necessarily have the intention of taking it to the next level. In this case, I'm talking about the hobbyist who might give a Mr. Beer home brewing kit a whirl, simply for fun.

In many conversations that I've overheard, or have been a part of regarding Mr. Beer, the comments are pretty much the same, "I tried Mr. Beer once, but it tasted injurious.

Typically, when people give something a try, and it doesn't turn out as expected. They are all too willing to blame the product or the system they used, and not evaluate their methods.

Mr. Beer sometimes gets a bad rap. Prior to sitting down to write this, I actually tasted a Mr. Beer West Coast Pale Ale I had brewed, and it tasted great. It was mildly bitter, with a fruity and slightly floral hop nose. It had all the hallmarks of a commercial ale that I may have bought at the store.

The key factors that led to this great tasting batch of Mr. Beer are proper sanitization, yeast pitching temp, fermentation temp, water quality, and patience. Ignore these and you're destined to make a lousy brew, so don't blame Mr. Beer!

Key Factor One: SANITIZE

I can't stress it enough. Sanitize, Sanitize, SANITIZE! Make sure your kitchen counters are clean, make sure your hands are hygienic and make sure you use the One Step no-rinse cleanser - included with every kit and refill - to sanitize the keg and your tools. Before bottling make sure you follow the directions and thoroughly sanitize the bottles.

No rinse means "NO RINSE!" There is absolutely nothing left behind by One-Step that can harm you or the beer. Rinse with tapping water and you risk contaminating everything you have just cleaned. Don't rinse, only drain.

Key Factor Two: PITCHING and FERMENTING TEMP

The Mr. Beer instructions advise us to use water in the fermenter prior to pouring in the wort, and then topping off with cold water before pitching the yeast. There is a reason for this. First, the wort is very hot, and you don't want to compromise the plastic keg fermenter, so put cold water in primary as a buffer.

Second, the yeast should not be added to the keg until the temperature is only about 70 degrees fahrenheit. 85 is not just 70. You can monitor the temperature with a SANITIZED Thermometer. That's what I do, or buy a Brew-O-Meter from Mr. Beer that sticks onto the fermenter, that works.

Topping off with cold water brings the brew up to the full fermenting volume, and will also help drop the temperature of the wort to within pitching range. If you don't have a thermometer, just feel the sides of the keg. If it is cool to the touch, not hot, then you're okay.

After pitching the yeast you want to keep the keg somewhere out of direct sunlight, and where the temperature is consistent, between 68 and 72 degrees fahrenheit is recommended.

Temperature is critical for proper yeast performance. Too hot or also cold and you can kiss your beer goodbye.

Key Factor Three: WATER

Bottled water or filtered to tap water are recommended for a reason. They are filtered to remove contaminants and will ensure a decent quality beer. I watched in horror as a YouTuber demonstrating Mr. Beer showed me how to top off the keg with cold water using his sink sprayer! You're just asking for trouble if you do that. Who knows what microbial monstrosities are hanging out in the end of that thing?!?

It's better to buy a few gallons of bottled water and stick them in the fridge. Case closed.

Key Factor Four: PATIENCE

Sanitization, temperature and water quality is critical components to producing a good batch of Mr. Beer - well. ANY home brewed beer actually - but another important factor, something many of us DIY-ears struggle with, is patience.

Sure, you can have the drinkable beer in as little as two weeks with any home brewing process. That's because, generally speaking, the fermentation process is usually complete in seven days, and it only takes seven days for the beer to carbonate after bottling. It's drinkable, but it can be a lot better.

What makes it better is aging. Beer left alone in the fermenter for two weeks will settle and clear out a lot. There will be less sediment in the bottles, so less muck to stir up while pouring.

Remember that beer I mentioned? Do you know how long it was in the bottle? I waited a tad over two weeks before bottling, so the beer had cleared out considerably in the keg. Once bottled, I waited one week before putting the bottles into the refrigerator to halt carbonation*. I tried one beer each week after that.

The first one was a little "Bready." That's one complaint I often hear about Mr. Beer. The yeasty odor is common early after bottling in any home brewed beer.

The second beer was less yeasty, but it had a slightly sour character.

The third beer, my most recent, had been in the bottle for about three weeks. That's FIVE weeks since the day I brewed it.

Patience is a must! Don't pour out your beers after only giving them a couple of weeks to mature. Commercial craft brewers let their beers rest, or age, in the bottles for three or four weeks before they hit the market. The full flavor of the beer needs that much time to develop.

To summarize, don't knock Mr. Beer. You can get good results brewing your own beer. Brew it right, brew it clean, and be patient. You'll find that the product isn't the problem, it's the brewer's technique and patience.

* I read somewhere that it's a good idea to chill the beer to halt carbonation, but if the beer has fermented fully before adding priming sugar and bottling, the yeast should have only enough to carbonate and will stop on its own. Furthermore, this trick might work for ale yeast but lager yeast will continue to ferment at lower temps if sugar is present.

Useful sources: ezinearticles
additional to editing by: Aan
Verizon Wireless has agreed to buy Alltel Corp. for $5.9 billion, which would make it by far the largest cellular carrier in the United States.

Verizon Wireless would also assume $22.2 billion in debt in the deal, bringing the total value to $28.1 billion, the parties said Thursday.

The deal comes just seven months after Alltel was taken private by TPG Capital and a unit of Goldman Sachs Group. They paid $24.7 billion for the stock and took on $2.7 billion in debt, bringing the value of that deal to $27.4 billion.

Alltel has 13.2 million subscribers in 34 states, mainly in rural areas away from the coasts. Added to Verizon Wireless' 67.2 million subscribers, the size of the combined company would surpass U.S. cellular leader AT&T Inc., which has 71.4 million subscribers.
The parties except they deal to close by the end of the year, pending regulatory approvals. The deal is likely to face scrutiny by the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission, but analysts expect it to pass.

Shares of Verizon Communications Inc., the controlling parent of Verizon Wireless, rose $1.98, or 5 percent, to $38.96. Verizon Wireless' other parent is Vodafone Group PLC of Britain, with a 45 percent share of the joint venture.

Verizon Wireless expects the deal to save more than $9 billion in capital and operating spending. Analysts said Verizon Wireless pays Alltel hundreds of millions of dollars a year in roaming fees, because Alltel provides coverage in many areas where Verizon Wireless does not.

In a statement, Verizon Communications Chairman and CEO Ivan Seidenberg said Alltel is "a perfect fit," given its customer base and solid financials. He also pointed to the fact that the carriers share the same network technology. AT&T and wireless carrier T-Mobile USA use an incompatible technology.

The $28.1 billion Verizon Wireless is paying, including debt, points to a small profit for the private-equity firms. The buyout happened at a difficult time in the credit markets, and the banks that financed the deal reportedly held some of the debt on their books, rather than selling it. That put pressure on the buyout group to cash out.

Useful sources: Peter Svensson, Associated Press
additional to editing by: Aan

Keywords : wireless
Many of us are familiar with the braided rugs. We use them to cover our floors and as decorative pieces for our homes. These rugs had humble beginning. Did you know that these floor rugs were handmade in the colonial times? Back then the women took all the worn material from blankets and clothing and did not waste these scraps of material. They used the materials and braided them into rugs. These rugs were then used to cover the floors of their homes.

The tradition, dependent on the availability of fabric, started in New England, which was also the birthplace of the American textile industry.
Back then, each rug was a completely original artwork. And they were all done by hand. The women employed several techniques to braid the rugs, including cloth braiding, yarn braiding and the flat braided technique. And never were these braids combined randomly. There were all very carefully thought out and were made into such beautiful intricate designs and patterns.

For the cloth braiding, strips of cloth were braided traditionally. The yarn braiding was more of a twisting style. Just like a real role of yarn, it was first layered and then twisted into place. The flat braiding is exactly what it sounds like. It is a braid that is left. Without the round look, the flat braid is a fantastic way to integrate whatever color schemes or patterns that the women wanted.

Unless you know how to make a braided rug, today. However, most of these rugs are manufactured or machine made. Using modern equipment, most manufacturers choose that flat braid style, or add the tubular style of braiding. And today, there are still the great patterns and designs which are all thought out perfectly. With these modern technologies, it was possible to come out with a plaited rug that uses a certain color scheme and patterns that can add depth and color to any room in your home. Not only that, these braided rugs provide the perfect floor covering and warmth for any room you want. Warmth was one of the main reasons why the people in the colonial times came up with them.

In those days, homes did not have proper insulation. So in winter a wooden floor can be very cold and uncomfortable to step on. These braided area rugs helped to keep feet warmer, and also added that extra bit of heat to the home. These days, many homeowners use wool braided rugs to combat the cold and to add an additional layer of warmth to their floors. Even though today we have insulation, certain floors like linoleum, tile and wood can still be dead cold during the winter months.

Today, the manufacturers of these braided rugs still stay true to the style of braiding like the early settlers. First a long braid is created from material. This can be about several feet in length. The chosen color scheme and design are incorporated into this piece. Then the material is made into the required shape of the rug. With all our modern equipment today, manufacturers have found ways to come up with braided rugs for sale in many shapes and sizes, square and around Previously rugs were only made in the oval shape, hence the oval braided rugs because it was the easiest shape to create especially since the braiding was done by one person.

Once the shape begins, the lines are then sewn together to make the whole thing one collective piece. Previously, these braided rugs were made as a necessity to combat the cold. Today we use them also as a way to combat the cold. However, we use these braided rugs as a decorative piece of furnishing, with all the vibrant colors and design available for us this day.

    Waste Not – Want Not

New Englanders are the practical people and “waste not, want not” is well illustrated in their rugs. Braided rugs are extremely sturdy, long wearing, comfortable to walk on and easy to care for. It tightly braided and laced together. These rugs only required sweeping with a stiff straw broom and regular turning over to reverse the wear. Braided rugs are also very economical: most are reversible, which is like having two rugs in one! Removing gritty dirt is easy and prolongs the life of any rug. Rough shaking or beating on a line puts too much strain on the lacing that binds the braids together, but they can be vacuumed – and should periodically be vacuumed on both sides. Stains can be sponged away with soapy water or professionally dry-cleaned. If your rugs are subject to heavy traffic, you can further equalize the wear by rotating them end to end. Braided rugs are tough.

The earliest rugs were made with natural fibers because that’s what was available. Today’s rugs take full advantage of synthetic fibers. They are braided with manufactured and blended yarns or fabrics that repel dirt and outwear natural fibers. There are even rugs for the patio – braided with polypropylene fibers that can be exposed to the elements and hosed off when dirty! This is a definite improvement over braided corn husk mats at the kitchen door.

Useful sources:

Braid Rugs
